Troy High School's JV Swim Team Shines at Mt. SAC's 2024 Winterfest Championship

TROY HIGH SCHOOL JV SWIM TEAM SECURES THE #2 SPOT AT THE 2024 MT. SAC HIGH SCHOOL WINTERFEST CHAMPIONSHIP.


Troy High School's JV Swim Team demonstrated their skill and determination at Mt. SAC's 2024 High School Winterfest Championship, securing an impressive 2nd place overall in combined boys and girls events over the weekend in Walnut, CA, as our Varsity team earned the 11th place spot.


Saturday saw a morning filled with exciting events, with impressive performances from freshman rookie Adan Rivera, who clinched first place out of 134 swimmers in the 100 Freestyle event, achieving a personal best with an impressive time of 52.02, and first in the Boys 50 Yard Free (23.52.) Rivera was also a part of the Boys 200 Yard Free Relay which placed fourth overall, and came in third in the Boys 400 Yard Free Relay.




Assistant Coach Lauren Hoyle expressed her pride in the team's achievement, stating, "It's incredibly rewarding to see our JV swimmers excel on such a competitive stage. Adan, who only began swimming in 2022, delivered special performances displaying his talent and dedication, making us very excited to see him continue to flourish."

Nathan Lo, Freshman, also had a "standout Saturday" coming in first, in the Boys 200 Yard IM (2:09.49); second in the Boys 100 Yard Free (52.58); and third in the Boys 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:52.32) and Boys 400 Yard Free Relay (3:41.70).


Freshman, Yejun Lee, placed first overall in the Boys 100 Yard Back shaving off -4.94 delivering a time of 58.60


Congrats to the other JV swimmers who placed within the Top 15 overall to secure the 2nd place spot!


  • Freshman, Kevin Bian, placed 3rd overall in the Boys 100 Yard Breast (1:09.12)

  • Freshman, Ava Plossel, placed 4th overall in the Girls 50 Yard Back (36.43)

  • Freshman, Allex Kim, placed 8th overall in the 100 Yard Free (55.16)

  • Freshman, Chen-Han Lin, placed 8th overall in the 100 Yard Fly (1:03.76)

  • Freshman, Hanyu Huang, placed 9th overall in the Boys 100 Yard Breast (1:12.57)

  • Junior, Natalee Winberg, placed 10th overall in the Girls 50 Yard Free (29.61)

  • Junior, Coco Standley, placed 11th overall in the Girls 50 Yard Back (38.08)


A total of 33 of Troy's JV swimmers showcased their skills on Saturday, March 16th, competing in at least two races each, with 11 athletes also participating in four events, including relays.


Head Coach Summer Driessen added, "The JV team's success is a reflection of their hard work and commitment to excellence. I have no doubt that they will continue to achieve great things as they progress in their swimming careers. It was apparent during preseason how talented our JV athletes are this season."

Based off of JV's strong combined start against Servite/Rosary (Troy 194 - S|R 113) and Fullerton (Troy 246 - Fullerton 42,) they are sure to be the ones to watch.





On deck this weekend as well were 26 members of Troy's Varsity team for the preliminaries on Friday and finals on Saturday. 


Junior, Luke Leon Guerrero, not only tied Troy's school record for the 500 Freestyle, but came in 2nd and automatically earned himself a CIF qualification with a time of 4:31.22, and placed fourth in the Boys 200 Yard Free in 1:41.59.

  • Senior, Dave Seo, placed 10th in the Boys 100 Yard Fly (52.45)

  • Freshman, Ratana Miller, placed 12th in the Girls 500 Yard Free (5:16.92); and 13th in the Girls 200 Yard Free (1:56.59)

  • Senior, Ty Leon Guerrero, placed 14th in the Boys 100 Yard Fly (53.05)

  • Freshman, Brendan Lee-Nguyen, placed 14th in the Boys 100 Yard Back (54.81)

  • Senior, Theo Sohn, placed 14th in the Boys 100 Yard Free (48.46)




The Troy High School Swim Team continues to make waves in the pool, showcasing their talent and dedication at every opportunity. As they celebrate their success at Mt. SAC's Winterfest Championship, the team looks forward to future competitions with confidence and determination.


Next up, Troy takes on Buena Park, Sonora, and Sunny Hills with a return visit to Mt. SAC in April for the 2024 Spring Meet of Champions.
